Sierra Point to Heron s Head

Start/End: Start car was at Sierra Point in a parking lot on the Bay side of Shoreline Ct. Finish car was at Heron's Head trail parking lot/dog park.

Notes: Started today's run by the hotels at Sierra Point where we finished the loop last week. Beautiful dawn light by the water and a full moon.

The first leg until 101 and then alongside Brisbane Lagoon. This part is a bike lane on a fwy frontage road and seemed a little sketchy as a runner. For the gap between the lagoon and Candlestick we traversed the land along the freeway, which although probably not really legit, didn't have a fence or signage that we saw. The alternatives didn't seem great and this route is the proposed Bay Trail route.

The next section was around the old Candlestick stadium. Interesting remains of the stadium infrastructure like parking lots and signage, though the stadium itself is long gone.

We took in a small section of Bay Trail at Yosemite Slough that isn't included on the maps as this park doesn't seem strictly open yet. For Hunters Point the gate was closed so we climbed over the hill and made our way to our car at Heron's Head.
